Derek Schmitz A.A.S. (they/them), is a young, queer, chronically ill and disabled advocate based in Alabama. Derek is passionate about public policy, inclusion, community-building and mutual aid. Through their advocacy firm, Derek Schmitz: Advocacy, Derek works to uplift mutual aid efforts and voices from their communities, as well as communicate and educate based on their personal experiences with ableism and queerphobia.
