12 new APHA policy statements now available online

Twelve policy statements adopted during the 2018 APHA Annual Meeting and Expo in San Diego in November are now available online.

The 2018 policy statements, approved by the APHA Governing Council last fall, address a range of public health concerns, including gun suicides, tuberculosis prevention, global food security and more. One of the new policy statements is a latebreaker, meaning it was not open to the same review as the other 2018 policy statements and will serve as an interim policy statement until reviewed by the Governing Council at its regular 2019 meeting.

APHA policy statements help guide the work of the Association. They help to shape APHA’s stance on a variety of public health topics and reflect the depth of knowledge and diversity of interests among APHA members.

The annual APHA policy statement development process kicked off in December. Policy statement proposals for 2019 are due Feb. 13. Only APHA members can submit proposed policy statements.
