New Control of Communicable Diseases Manual includes info on a potentially first climate-driven disease

At a time when the priority of improving the health of all communities faces federal funding cuts, elimination of key HHS positions and the politicization of evidence-based strategies, public health professionals and advocates need reliable information. APHA Press is pleased to announce the release of a new edition of the Control of Communicable Diseases Manual. CCDM has guided public health for more than 100 years. As the world changes, we need trustworthy resources to help strengthen communities and implement approaches that equip thousands of public health professionals to identify infectious disease threats, manage global health situations and outbreaks. 

Authors Ali Kahn, MD, MPH and Catherine Troisi, PhD, who together took over leadership of CCDM in 2023 say the 22nd Edition includes a new chapter on a drug-resistant yeast spreading in healthcare facilities, extensive coverage of a potentially first climate-driven disease and advanced therapeutics and modern vaccines. 

“In an era of increasing numbers of infectious disease outbreaks, it’s important to have a reliable, fact-based source, to consult. CCDM is that go-to, essential resource for epidemiologists and other public health practitioners, clinicians and laboratorians working to keep communities safe and informed,” says Dr. Troisi.
