Tesfa Alexander, PhD, MA

Dr. Tesfa N. Alexander is Managing Director of the Division of Global and Public Health at MITRE, where he leads the development of government-wide solutions to address complex public health challenges. He brings deep expertise in health behavior change, having previously served as Director of Research and Evaluation at the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products. There, he led a team of scientists developing and evaluating national tobacco education campaigns. Dr. Alexander has also held leadership roles at Battelle, Ogilvy, and Weber Shandwick, applying social science to public education and policy. He serves on advisory boards for the Ad Council and Society for Health Communication and has taught as an adjunct professor at George Washington University. His work integrates research, communication, and innovation to improve population health. He holds a PhD in Health Communication from the University of Memphis, an MA from Emerson College, and a BA in Writing and Communication from SUNY.
