Chris Chanyasulkit, PhD, MPH

Chris Chanyasulkit, PhD, MPH, is past-president of the American Public Health Association (APHA), where she champions efforts to eliminate structural barriers to equity for marginalized and underserved populations. An educator, researcher, and advocate, Dr. Chanyasulkit has held leadership roles at the local, state, regional, and national levels to advance racial, gender, and health equity.

She previously served as a gubernatorial appointee to the Massachusetts Asian American Commission and the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, advocating for the needs of Asian American communities and women throughout the Commonwealth. Professionally, she has worked as a Human Services Specialist and Assistant Director of Diversity in Brookline’s Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Relations. In higher education, she has taught graduate public health courses at Simmons University and currently serves as an adjunct assistant professor at Temple University, where she teaches Public Health Advocacy.

Dr. Chanyasulkit holds a BA from Boston University, an MPH from the Boston University School of Public Health, and a PhD in Political Science from Northeastern University. She lives in Brookline with her husband, three children, and two puppies.
