Donna-Marie Palakiko, PhD, RN, APRN

Donna-Marie Palakiko, PhD, RN, APRN is a Native Hawaiian mother, health strategist, community-based researcher, and nurse. Dr. Palakiko has over 25 years of experience addressing health inequities among Native Hawaiians in underserved areas of Hawai‘i through health promotion and disease prevention programs, community-based participatory research, and workforce development. Her area of expertise and interest is to address social and cultural determinants of health among Indigenous and underserved communities through culturally safe health interventions and building a culturally mindful health workforce to serve in underserved areas of Hawai‘i. Sher is the inaugural Director of Cultural Innovation and Strategies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene and holds an academic appointment as Assistant Professor.
