Dr. Brooke Cunningham has served as Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Health since January 2023, leading the agency's nearly 2,000 staff to protect and improve the health of all Minnesotans. She has advanced health equity, modernized public health infrastructure, and strengthened community partnerships, while previously serving as assistant commissioner for the Health Equity Bureau. A physician-sociologist, Dr. Cunningham earned her M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and completed residency at Duke University.
