HIV/AIDS

The HIV/AIDS Section provides a professional foundation for members of diverse disciplines to combine interests and expertise to fight the HIV/AIDS pandemic as well as provide leadership on HIV/AIDS-related issues.

We envision a world where HIV infections are rare, and all people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS and its associated co-morbidities have access to high-quality care and supportive services regardless of age, gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or socioeconomic status.

Our Work

We work to achieve our mission through the following priorities:

  • Serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of information on HIV/AIDS.
  • Strengthen and support public health policy through the development of resolutions, position papers and policy statements relating to HIV/AIDS issues.
  • Support research into the causes, treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS.
  • Advocate for effective programs to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and disseminate information on effective HIV prevention strategies to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS on individuals, families and communities.
  • Support HIV prevention training for health care providers and educational materials for consumers.
  • Support equal access to health care for all individuals infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
