2023 Climate Communications Bootcamp (In-Person)

DESCRIPTION

APHA is partnering with the National Center for Healthy Housing to offer a Climate Communications Bootcamp.

This two-day training aims to build skills around delivering key climate and health messaging, as well as communicating and engaging with policymakers, media and other key audiences. The second day of the training will culminate in a Capitol Hill visit for participants interested in putting their new skills into practice in meetings at the U.S. congressional offices in D.C.

LOCATION

The training will take place at Resolve, 2445 M St NW, Washington, D.C. 20037.

REGISTRATION

Space is limited and the training is currently invite-only. The registration fee is $100.

SCHEDULE

Registered participants will receive a detailed agenda.

Day 1: February 14, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Speakers and panelists will: 

  • Share why reaching policymakers matters. 
  • Share why reaching the media/public matters. 
  • Cover how to fund your work. 
  • Facilitate breakout sessions for each topic throughout the day so participants can practice the new skills they have learned. 

Day 2: February 15 (optional) 

The second day of the training will culminate in a Capitol Hill visit for participants interested in putting their new skills into practice in meetings at the U.S. congressional offices in D.C.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Vaccination Requirements: APHA is requiring all in-person attendees to be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccination against the SARS-Cov-2 virus as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. Up to date is defined as a completed full primary series (two shots of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccine or one shot of the Johnson and Johnson product, or a comparably approved vaccine if you are an international attendee) plus at least one booster.  

Vaccination Validation: You will be required to show proof of vaccination during event check-in. Attendees can show proof of vaccination with an official CDC vaccination card and government-issued ID. A copy or photo of the vaccination card is acceptable.

By registering for the event, you agree to be fully vaccinated and boosted against the COVID-19 virus. 

Masking Requirements: All in-person attendees, speakers, staff and volunteers will be required to wear masks at indoor activities.
