3rd Annual Maternal Health and Perinatal Safety Symposium

Symposium //

Online

Date:

May 13 2021, 7:30 AM - 1:30 PM EST

Description

Maternal mortality is an urgent health crisis. Despite healthcare advances, maternal mortality and morbidity rates have risen in the United States since the 1990's. But this crisis most deeply impacts Black mothers. In New Jersey, the pregnancy-related death rate for Black women is nearly seven times higher than for white women.

The Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern New Jersey, with support from RWJBarnabas Health, is pleased to host this innovative conference. The Symposium provides physicians, nurses, public health professionals, other healthcare providers, and advocates with a review of current clinical issues impacting maternal health and perinatal safety in New Jersey and nationally. Renowned experts will discuss the factors contributing to perinatal morbidity and mortality and propose prevention strategies that direct and enhance hospital obstetrical care for both patients and providers.
