Thank you, public health professionals!
On the Monday before Thanksgiving, APHA, Research!America and leading public health organizations take time to recognize public health professionals who work tirelessly every day to protect the health of all people and all communities.
Public health professionals are dedicated to reducing infant mortality, developing and distributing vaccines, tracking infectious outbreaks, preparing us for natural disasters and so much more.
"Our public health workforce works day in and day out to protect and improve the health of others. Their work affects the lives of Americans in countless ways, from treating and preventing disease outbreaks, to preparing us for natural disasters, to ensuring everyone has access to quality and affordable care," said APHA Executive Director Georges Benjamin, MD. "Thanks to the efforts of these dedicated professionals, the U.S. is on its way to becoming the healthiest nation in one generation."
Research!America hosted a town hall meeting titled "Assuring Public Health and Prevention is a High Priority for Next Congress and President" at APHA’s 2016 Annual Meeting at on Oct. 31. The town hall explored ways to ensure the voice of public health is high on the agenda for the new administration and next Congress. Check out this recap and video of the event.
