Kick off 2020 with APHA's Billion Steps Challenge
Meet your fitness goals with APHA this year! Join us in taking 1 billion steps or more by the end of National Public Health Week, April 6-12. APHA’s Billion Steps Challenge has begun, and you can participate by joining a team or starting your own.
It’s easy to create a team and get your family and friends, workplace, congregation — even your whole community — involved. Sign up online or through the free Walker Tracker app, available for Apple or Android devices in your app store.
APHA will track each team’s total steps, and you can track your individual and team progress. APHA’s Billion Steps Challenge makes it easy and fun to promote good health and physical activity in your community.
Regular physical activity, such as walking, is a great way to prevent chronic disease. Walking can greatly reduce the risk of conditions such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease and cancer. It’s also been shown to have mental health benefits.
The challenge is about more than just walking, however. You can convert any physical activity into mileage. That means everyone can participate — including wheelchair users.
Get started today! Share photos and updates on your progress on social media using #APHABillionSteps. We can’t wait to see how far the challenge will take us this year.
