Time is running out! Register for the Annual Meeting by Aug. 10 for early-bird rates
They say good things come in pairs. Like going to the APHA 2017 Annual Meeting & Expo while saving more than $100 in the process.
But time is running out to do both. Early-bird registration rates for this year’s Annual Meeting end on Aug. 10 — register before then and you can save up to $115. And there are plenty of reasons to go ahead and register. This year’s meeting, Nov. 4-8 in Atlanta, is shaping up to be one of the best.
With a theme of “Creating the Healthiest Nation: Climate Changes Health,” the 2017 meeting will welcome environmental health scientists, advocates and practitioners from all over the world to discuss one of the greatest public health challenges of our time: climate change. Just a few of this year’s noted speakers are: former Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy; Eriel Tchekwie Deranger, driving force of Indigenous Climate Action; Miya Yoshitani, executive director of the Asian Pacific Environmental Network; and Kimberly Wasserman-Nieto, director of the Little Village Environmental Justice Organization. This is in addition to four days of scientific sessions on every health-related climate change topic you can imagine, from protecting homeless populations to mitigating extreme heat impacts in cities to environmental justice advocacy in indigenous communities.
We suspect that in a time when climate change action is facing big setbacks at the federal level, this year’s Annual Meeting attendees will leave Atlanta with a wealth of new ideas — and probably some new partnerships and collaborations — to tackle climate change back at home.
Of course, the 2017 APHA Annual Meeting also has a full roster of scientific sessions devoted to every public health discipline in the field. Click on over to our Online Program to check it out. Registration also gives you access to a variety of social events, awards ceremonies, networking opportunities, the Public Health Expo, the APHA Global Public Health Film Festival, APHA Section business meetings and so much more.
Plus, you’ll get to spend four days surrounded by thousands of public health workers from all over the world who are also dedicated to making the world a better place for all, no matter how challenging the task or how big the barrier. Believe us, it’s a pretty awesome feeling.
All that, plus a savings of $115, if you register by Aug. 10. Sounds like a pretty good deal.
