APHA’s Benjamin among 100 most influential in health care
Modern Healthcare has again named APHA Executive Director Georges Benjamin, MD, among the 100 most influential people in health care.
Its latest ranking, published in the Aug. 20, 2018, issue of the magazine, features leaders in both the private and public sectors, including U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Seema Verma and Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration Scott Gottlieb.
Editors noted that “disruption” has been a prominent theme of the past year. As a result, the list — with President Donald Trump in the No. 1 spot — reflects the changes that are taking hold across the industry. Those featured disrupters also include a number of executives working to change the way health care is organized and delivered such as Amazon Chairman and CEO Jeff Bezos, Apple CEO Tim Cook, CVS Health President and CEO Larry Merlo and Kaiser Permanente Chairman and CEO Bernard Tyson.
The publication recognized Benjamin for helping focus more attention on the social determinants of health and drawing a tighter connection between evidence-based policy and public health, among other contributions.
