Attention animal lovers! APHA’s 2019 Get Ready Photo Contest is now open

Dalmatian on picnic blanketThis post was written by APHA’s Get Ready intern, Daisy Gonzalez-Torres. APHA’s Get Ready campaign helps Americans prepare themselves, their families and their communities for all disasters and hazards, including pandemic flu, infectious disease, natural disasters and other emergencies.

APHA’s Get Ready Photo Contest is open and taking submissions! The photo contest is all about animals. We want to see all your furry and feathery friends! It can be a pet, a zoo animal, a farm animal or a creature in the wild. If the animal is doing someone related to emergency preparedness, even better. If not, we still want to see it!

This year, due to popular demand we will be printing our calendar. That’s right; your photo could appear in print! Just snap a picture of a critter you think is cute and submit it to APHA‘s 2019 Get Ready Photo Contest. We’ll choose the best and most adorable pictures to include in our 2020 Get Ready Calendar.

If your picture is selected, our Get Ready team will add a caption or fact about the importance of emergency preparedness. You can even submit your own caption in the body of your email.

To look back at previous photos, check out this year’s calendar or our 2017 calendar.

Check out our rules and FAQs for full details. Submissions are open now through May 15. Happy snapping!
