For science. For action. For health. Registration opens for APHA's 2019 Annual Meeting

APHA 2019 Annual Meeting & Expo Philadelphia Nov. 2-6 Creating the Healthiest Nation: For science. For action. For health.Registration and housing are officially open for this year’s APHA Annual Meeting and Expo, which is expected to welcome about 13,000 public health workers, students, researchers and advocates from around the world.

The 2019 meeting, which convenes Nov. 2-6 in Philadelphia, will rally around three core principles of public health work with a theme of “For science. For action. For health.” Attendees who sign up by the early-bird deadline of Aug. 8 can save more than $100 in registration fees.

As usual, Annual Meeting attendees will get to hear from a wide variety of public health leaders and innovators, including our Opening General Session keynote speaker Sandro Galea, dean and professor at the Boston University School of Public Health. At the time of his appointment to the role, Galea, who’s been named an epidemiology innovator by Time magazine, was the youngest dean of a U.S. public health school.

In addition to hundreds of scientific sessions, APHA Annual Meeting attendees can choose from a variety of networking, social, advocacy and celebratory events, many of them organized and hosted by APHA member groups, its Student Assembly, and its state and local public health Affiliates.

Other highlights in Philadelphia will include the Public Health Expo, where you can browse hundreds of booths representing public health schools, federal health agencies, public health publishers, advocacy groups, nonprofits and much more. APHA’s Global Public Health Film Festival — which is still accepting submissions through June 21 — will feature some of the best in public health storytelling and film. APHA’s Social Media Lab will offer attendees one-on-one sessions on how to optimize social media tools to promote people’s health. And APHA’s Learning Institutes, as well as many of the meeting’s scientific sessions, give attendees the chance to earn dozens of continuing education credits.

And that’s just the beginning. If you’ve never been to an APHA Annual Meeting, check out our daily blog coverage from last year’s meeting in San Diego.

“The APHA Annual Meeting is the year’s premier public health gathering,” said APHA Executive Director Georges Benjamin. “I hope you’ll join me in Philadelphia to learn, listen and speak for health.”
