Start planning today for National Public Health Week 2021
As the public health community gathers at APHA’s 2020 Annual Meeting and Expo, it’s a great time to start planning for National Public Health Week 2021.
With a theme of “Building Bridges to Better Health,” NPHW 2021 will take place virtually from April 5-11. The COVID-19 pandemic has reminded us that building connections is more important than ever if we want to ensure the health and safety of all people within our communities. With that in mind, the NPHW 2021 daily themes represent pieces of those bridges and will help move us closer to better health for all.
The NPHW 2021 daily themes:
- Rebuilding
- Advancing Racial Equity
- Strengthening Community
- Galvanizing Climate Justice
- Constructing COVID-19 Resilience
- Uplifting Mental Health and Wellness
- Elevating the Essential and Health Workforce
This past April, NPHW celebrated its 25th anniversary of bringing together communities across the U.S. to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues key to creating the healthiest nation. During the annual week of public health awareness, our goal is help address and educate on the causes of poor health and disease risk in our everyday environments, as well as spark new conversations about how we can all become advocates for positive change.
NPHW is the perfect time for all of us to come together. A few ways to start getting ready now:
- Become a NPHW partner. Let everyone know you support public health and prevention
- Plan an NPHW event to connect virtually with others in your community.
- Sign up for the Keep It Moving Challenge, which kicks off Jan. 1. When we’re cooped up inside, there are still plenty of ways to get a little more active. Being part of a team will keep us all motivated during the winter months!
We'll keep you posted about all the latest NPHW activities, events, resources and tools at www.nphw.org and on Twitter at www.twitter.com/nphw. You can also stop by our virtual booth at the Public Health Expo. And don't forget to RSVP for the NPHW Twitter Chat, which will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at 2 p.m. EDT.
