Responding to COVID-19: A science-based approach
A new rapid-response webinar series, COVID-19 Conversations, will explore scientific developments on COVID-19, as well as emerging evidence on how best to mitigate the outbreak.
Hosted by APHA and the National Academy of Medicine, the series begins this week.
On Wednesday, March 25, from 3-4:30 p.m. EST, public health, medical and emergency experts will share the science on social distancing and strategies to support it.
Speakers for “The Science of Social Distancing, Part I” include Nancy Messonnier, MD, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, and Mitch Stripling, national director of emergency preparedness and response for Planned Parenthood and former assistant commissioner of agency preparedness and response for New York City.
Led by a panel of expert advisors, the webinars feature trusted experts in public health, infectious disease, risk communication and crisis standards of care. The series is aimed at a wide audience, including policymakers, public health professionals, health care officials and the general public. The webinar series will draw from and complement existing advisory activities at APHA and the National Academies, including the Standing Committee on Emerging Infectious Diseases and 21st Century Health Threats, which was convened for the purpose of advising the White House and federal agencies on the U.S. response to COVID-19.
Register now for the first in the COVID-19 Conversations series. All webinars will be recorded and posted on COVID19Conversations.org.
