Knowledge and practical understanding of the laws that govern public health practice are critical. In Spring 2014, researchers set out to systematically collect and code state and local laws that govern public health practice in the state of Nebraska and evaluate knowledge and awareness among the public health workforce. Researchers created a policy surveillance portal called "LawAtlas" and baseline and six-month follow-up surveys to determine the impact on the public health workforce regarding their understanding and comfort level with these laws. Join us for an inside look at the policy surveillance tool, to share opportunities for using the tool and to discuss the impact on the workforce in Nebraska.
