Due to the large size of the APHA Annual Meeting, sessions are sometimes spread out, and distances between sessions can be considerable. If you are a regular wheelchair user you should bring your chair with you.
Shuttle service is NOT available between the convention center and Annual Meeting hotels but an on-call accessible van is available for attendees with mobility constraints. The accessibility booth can provide you with access to the accessible van.
Taxi Service for those with Mobility Constraints
Registrants with mobility issues who are unable to utilize APHA's accessible van may utilize cab service to and from official APHA hotels and the convention center. APHA will reimburse for taxi fares between official APHA Annual Meeting properties.
Submit all receipts to APHA (c/o Conventions Dept., 800 I Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001) no later than Dec. 1.
Registration of Personal Aide/Companion
Should you require an aide or personal assistant to help you navigate the Annual Meeting, APHA will register your aide as a complimentary guest. Please contact APHA to register your personal aide (name, city and state is required for the badge). Badges for the personal aide will be mailed to the original registrant along with his/her attendee badge. Personal aides may attend sessions and access the exhibit hall, but are not able to earn CE credits. If you need APHA to arrange for an aide to help you navigate the meeting, your request must be submitted in writing outlining the specific type of assistance required. Please email APHA with your requests.
