During last night’s APHA Public Health Awards Ceremony and Reception in San Diego, the Association honored outstanding work and commitment to improving people’s health, well-being and opportunity. From top to bottom: APHA Executive Director Georges Benjamin presents Risa Lavizzo-Mourey with the Sedgwick Memorial Medal, one of APHA’s highest honors; Amy Hagopian speaks after receiving the Victor Sidel and Barry Levy Award for Peace; Gail Bellamy, left, chair of the APHA Awards Committee, presents the David P. Rall Award for Advocacy to Emily Benfer; and APHA presents a check to San Diego nonprofit Home Start, the recipient of this year’s Help Us Help Them campaign.
