Washington, D.C. — “Today APHA stands in strong support of our nation’s new Secretary of Health and Human Services, Sylvia Burwell, who is well-equipped to lead our nation’s health system. She is an established leader with strong management credentials and a proven ability to produce results across sectors. With the administration, Ms. Burwell has helped oversee the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act’s early success, and we are confident she will work with the public health community to bring to life unprecedented health benefits made possible by the law.

“We’re also confident that she will continue to provide strong support for the many public health agencies, in particular the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Food and Drug Administration and work to strengthen their capacity.

“Today, we pledge our support for Ms. Burwell as we work to build a healthier America.”
