Every April, the American Heart Association promote Move More Month (MMM). Its aim is to encourage everyone to take part in more physical activity. In the US, MMM is kicked off by National Walking Day and National Walk to Work Day on April 1 and 3, respectively. On Wednesday April 1, we kicked off CIEDM walks for health through the month by walking at the Arcadia Ecohome Microforest, a pocket forest of 500+ trees certified as a Wildlife Habitat and Pollinator Habitat, to take part in those awareness campaigns for walking and moving.
In light of two significant campaigns for health to take place next week -- the National Public Health Week 2026 on April 6-12 and the World Health Day 2026 on April 7, as a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) IPC Global CoP, I’ve scheduled the second CIEDM walk for health on Tuesday April 7. It is a small group walk at and around the Arcadia Ecohome's Micro-forest and two adjacent public spaces with greenery and sport facilities -- the Camino Grove School and Park, to take part in these national and global campaigns for health/public health. Meanwhile, we will share online to raise public awareness of the campaign messages and what we do to participate.
We all know walking in the woods, a setting for healing, is beneficial for our body and mind in many ways. Happy #NationalPublicHealthWeek and #WorldHealthDay 2026 with walking!
