What to Expect at APHA 2021

You spoke, and we listened! All the changes implemented for APHA 2021 were designed to improve the attendee experience. We plan to gather safely in October, but whether in Denver or online, meeting attendees will have access to high-quality scientific sessions, inspiring presentations and many opportunities to connect with peers. Check out our new expanded schedule.

Session Formats

While things are subject to change as we monitor the pandemic and safety protocols, we anticipate half of all oral sessions will be presented virtually, and half in-person.

  • General and Featured Sessions: These key sessions will take place in Denver and be livestreamed to the virtual audience.
  • Oral Sessions: Half of all oral sessions will be presented virtually and the other half in-person. All presenters in a session will be in the same meeting format (virtual or in-person). If a virtual presenter attends the in-person meeting, they should plan to conduct their presentation from their personal laptop in their hotel room or a designated Wi-Fi-enabled space in the convention center.
  • Poster Sessions: All poster sessions will be virtual. This year, we're adding an interactive element to allow poster presenters to easily communicate with attendees.
  • Roundtable Sessions: All roundtable sessions will be virtual. New technologies will allow us to optimize virtual roundtable presentations.

Public Health Expo

APHA 2021 will have an expo in Denver and a virtual expo. All exhibitors will have a virtual presence allowing them to connect and engage with all attendees. The expo hall is already filling up! Beware of Scams

Tech-savvy scammers are reaching out to our attendees claiming to sell attendee lists; this is a scam! APHA exhibitors may purchase mailing lists or request to have an email sent out on their behalf. APHA does not give out attendee email addresses. Mailing lists are managed by our Exhibits Manager, Edward Shipley. If you receive an email from anyone other than Edward, please do not respond.
