In our "sophomore year" Ethics Section business meeting in Chicago in 2015, we outlined four priority projects to serve both our Section membership as well as all of APHA. Contact the chair listed below if you are interested in the group or simply want to know what the group has accomplished in this area. We provide our section members with Monthly Updates by email, and members of these working group often contribute to keep us posted on their progress!
The policy committee works to develop Ethics Section APHA policy proposals. We also collaborate with other APHA components to comment on and support their policy work.
Public Health Code of Ethics Task Force
The public health Code of Ethics was first developed in 2002. We are working with the original authors and APHA leadership to explore the possibility of revisions to the code. Read more to find out what the task force accomplished before last year's Annual Meeting.
Public Health Education
The Ethics Section is deeply committed to integrating high-quality ethics education into public health programs. In this group, we will work with accreditation organizations to develop specific and obvious ways to integrate ethics training requirements into degree programs. Jeffrey Spike is the current chair.
Acting chair: Selena Ortiz
The membership committee works to sustain current membership and welcome new members. If you are interested in joining or growing the Ethics Section, contact Harry, who has his fingers on the pulse of the Ethics Section membership!
