Continuing Education at the APHA Annual Meeting

The APHA Annual Meeting & Expo offers provides more educational offerings in public health than any other event. Registrants may earn continuing education credits for specific professional disciplines at scientific sessions and pre-convention Learning Institutes. By evaluating a session for CE, you are attesting that you participated in real time and for the full duration.

Cost: The first discipline is included with your meeting registration and each additional discipline is $10.

Credits Earned: Attendees can earn up to 20.5 CE credit hours. One continuing education credit is earned for every 60 minutes of educational content. Additional credits can be earned by purchasing registration to pre-convention Learning Institutes

Credit Types Available: Credits can be earned in Certified in Public Health, Health Education CHES, Nursing, Veterinary, CME (for DO or MD) and OP for other health professionals.

Scientific Sessions: Not all scientific sessions are approved for contact hour credits. Check the Online Program for the most up to date session status.

Instructions for obtaining your CE certificate from APHA 2023

Once the deadline has passed, you may only access your earned certificate(s) but will no longer be able to claim additional credit. Log in to the APHA 2023 Meeting platform with your registration number and email address. Your initials will appear on the top left of the screen if you are already logged into the meeting platform. On the left-hand panel scroll down to CE Information. At the end of the page, click on review claimed credits and certificates. Check box for certificate and transcript, then enter your email.

EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION

Purpose of the Activity: The educational purpose of the APHA Annual Meeting is to offer professionals and practitioners the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, improve their skills, exchange information on best practices and learn strategies to incorporate the latest research and new trends in their practice.

Objectives of the Activity: To define the roles of the public health community in working together to promote health equity as public health policies and programs are developed and implemented and to improve the competencies of public health practitioners through skill-building.

Target Audience: physicians, health educators, nurses, nurse practitioners, public and environmental health professionals, students, health care providers, and other stakeholders.

Presence or Absence of Conflict of Interest for planners/faculty/authors/moderators: Disclosure of conflict of interest for individual presenters/moderators can be viewed for each presentation accessed through the Online Program.

Presence or Absence of Commercial and/or Sponsorship Support disclosure: This educational activity does not currently have any commercial support.

ACCREDITATION STATEMENTS

Medicine (CME) Accreditation Statement

APHA is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Designation Statement: The APHA designates this annual meeting educational activity for a maximum of 20.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit (s)™.

Nursing (CNE) Accreditation Statement

The American Public Health Association is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by American Public Health Association’s Public Health Nursing Section (APHA/PHN], an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Health Education (CHES) Statement

Sponsored by the American Public Health Association (APHA), a designated approver of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES®) to receive up to 20.5 total Category I contact education contact hours. Maximum advanced-level continuing education contact hours available are 20.5 total.
