Rosie Mae Henson, MPH, is a doctoral fellow within the Urban Health Collaborative at the Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health. Their research examines evidence-based policy, including policymaking processes, policy evaluation, and policy advocacy from a health equity perspective. Topic areas of their research include substance use, urban redevelopment, transgender & gender minority rights, and multi-level factors influencing the adoption and implementation of health equity policy. They received their MPH in Health Management and Policy from the Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health (2016) and their BS in Microbial Biology from the University of California, Berkeley (2013).
Henson has been an active member of APHA since 2015. They have served as the Student Representative on the Action Board since 2015, becoming Chair-Designate in 2018. They have served on the Executive Council of the Student Assembly since 2015, including as the Student Assembly Action Committee Co-Chair in 2015-2016. They have served on the Joint Policy Committee since 2018. As Chair of the Action Board, they hope to work in partnership with APHA staff to further APHA's legislative and advocacy priorities through member engagement.
