PANEL: Same City, Drastically Different Life Expectancy: Improving Health Equity
In many cities across the United States, shocking gaps in health care access, outcomes and longevity still exist from one neighborhood to the next. The coronavirus pandemic has laid bare the dramatic disparities in care among many Black and minority communities, who have been hard hit by COVID-19 and have long been battling the health effects of systemic racism as a public health threat. In Chicago, for example, life expectancy between some neighborhoods can vary by 30 years based on access to education, income and other key social determinants of health. Hear how health care leaders and other key community stakeholders can collaborate in meaningful ways to improve health equity.
