Disparities in the US

Disparities in health within the U.S.

Why is it that in the U.S., where you live can have a huge impact on your health? For example, in the area served by the Washington, D.C., metro system, neighborhoods just 12 miles from each other can have a nine-year difference in life expectancy.

Many studies show this type of health disparity happens all across the country.

But it is not just where you live. Within the U.S. we have shocking differences in life expectancy based on:

health is impacted by our income our education and our race

This is unacceptable. We believe health is a basic human right. It's a right for all people and all communities.
