Training Workshops

An annual training for The National Public Health Performance Standards Program (NPHPSP) led by CDC began in 2002. Training was open to all partners, public health systems and agencies and other interested stakeholders.

The 2012 training: Improving Public Health: Exploring Agency, Systems, & Community Health Improvement was held in Atlanta, Georgia, May 8-9 and was attended by over 150 public health professionals.

The stated Training Goal was: To increase the public heath workforce’s capacity to strengthen public health agencies and systems through assessment and improvement processes.

Objectives:  Provide public health practitioners with opportunities to:

  1. Increase knowledge of accreditation, health assessment and improvement planning, the National Public Health Performance Standards (NPHPS), performance management, and quality improvement.
  2. Develop skills necessary to prepare for accreditation, implement assessment and planning processes (Community Health Assessment (CHA) Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), Strategic Plan, NPHPS) and Performance management/quality improvement.
Attendees participated in several skill building workshops.
