Policy Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) to Strengthen Public Health Infrastructure and Performance
About CBA
APHA is one of five public health organizations that have received funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide capacity building assistance (CBA) to state, tribal, local and territorial health departments as part of the National Public Health Improvement Initiative (NPHII).
APHA’s goal is to support health departments in their use of policy and law to improve population health by:
- Providing direct technical assistance to NPHII grantees;
- Developing and compiling resources, including webinars, trainings, and toolkits.
- Researching, assembling, and disseminating promising and best public health policy practices.
- Funding health departments to advance an innovative policy approach in response to a critical public health problem in their community, with a focus on building policy capacity.
