School-Sponsored Student Memberships
Fees vary
Schools and programs are eligible to participate in a School-Sponsored Student Membership program that allows them to enroll their students as an APHA member at a greatly discounted rate. This is a terrific way to get your students involved during their studies and prepare them for future engagement opportunities in public health.

Economy Discount

Save $20 when you choose not to receive the PDF version of the American Journal of Public Health. With this discount, you will still have full online access to AJPH. The Economy Discount must be selected annually. The discount applies to the full 12 months of your membership. If, at any time, you decide to discontinue the economy discount and receive the pdf version of AJPH, the full $20 will be due regardless of the number of months remaining in your membership. Does not apply to agency individual or School-Sponsored Student members.

To learn more, please contact APHA's Membership Department at 202-777-2400 or email us.

Installment Plan and Automatic Renewal

Pay for your membership quarterly, semi-annually or annually with APHA’s installment and automatic renewal plan. It’s an easy, affordable way to handle your membership. To choose this option, click "enroll now" when you check out online. Or you may contact our Membership Services Department at 202-777-2400 or email us to get started or to modify your existing payment plan. You may also check the box for your preferred installment option on the application form (PDF) you send to us. (Please note that if you select an installment plan, your membership will also automatically renew annually — at the payment intervals you select — until you tell us to stop). The Installment Plan options do not apply to individuals who join or renew through their Agency or participants in the School-Sponsored Student Membership program.

To cancel an existing installment or automatic renewal plan, please email us before you are charged again. You must have paid for the full year if you are on an installment plan.

Membership Changes, Transfers and Refunds

We are unable to transfer memberships or provide refunds.

We can change your membership category. If changing to a less expensive membership category, you will not receive a refund. You will also need to email us proof of status if you are changing to a Discounted Regular, Early-Career Professional or Student membership. Please review our FAQs for details.

*Before joining or renewing as an APHA member, employees should consult their management office to see if their organization is either currently an APHA Agency or Company & Consultant member or is in the process of becoming one. Refunds and member type changes will not be offered retroactively. Members who join or renew independent of their organization are eligible to renew at the agency individual rate at the end of their membership term as long as their organization is a member in good standing. The APHA Agency Member Directory does not reflect organizations that are in the process of applying for membership. Please consult your organizational leadership to inquire about your organization's status.
