Personal Statement about APHA-SA: Upon beginning the MPH program I had been informed about APHA and the Annual Meeting through a friend. She encouraged me to look into APHA and try to save money to attend a meeting. I attended the 2012 Annual Meeting as a first semester MPH student and at first it was very overwhelming and beautiful at the same time. There were so many interesting and different faucets of public health that I was introduced to. I had the opportunity to meet and network with many students and professionals that I shared common public health interest with or those that have educated and enlightened me on new issues. I feel that being apart of APHA will give you an holistic public health student experience that you wouldn’t other wise get by just sitting in a classroom alone. I am excited to be apart of the Student Assembly and grow and learn much about APHA and what it can offer to students such as myself.
