Personal Statement about APHA-SA: I was first exposed to APHA during my time at San Jose State from our department chair and professor, Dr. Kathleen Roe. After she mentioned it, I looked into it, but it took some time for me to sign up. After some time of thought, I signed up and I don’t regret it all! As a student, I was automatically registered as a member of the APHA Student Assembly and began getting emails to get involved. When I saw the opening for the membership co-chair, I was thrilled because I love working with people and I would finally get to be more involved in the public health world. The APHA-SA allows students from all over the county to work together and share which is fascinating, and wonderful. The amount of opportunities that exist for individuals to get involved is brilliant. I am so thrilled to be a part of this organization and cannot wait to work on the board with my peers, all across the country.
