Practice/Research Interests: Gerontology, community-based and behavioral interventions, mental health and illness, and cognitive aging, particularly Mild Cognitive Impairment and Dementia.
Other Leadership Activities: Doctoral Representative for Educational Policies and Curriculum Committee at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health (2011-current); President of the Student Government Association at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health (2010-2011); Treasure of the Student Government Association at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health (2009-2010).
Plans after school: Upon completion of my PhD, I plan to pursue a post doctoral scholar position that will provide me with further training in the field cognitive aging and mental health and illness in late-life. My career aspirations are to obtain a faculty position at a School of Public Health and become a successful researcher and academic in the field of gerontology and cognitive aging.
Personal Statement about APHA-SA: My reason for joining the Student Assembly was to meet other like-minded students who had a dedication to and an interest in the field of public health. I also like that APHA-SA focuses on connecting students internationally and facilitates opportunities for networking with other students and public health professionals. I look forward to being a part of APHA SA’s efforts to educate, recruit new student members, and promote public health across the globe!
