APHA-SA: Chair's Welcome

Chair's Welcome

Chair: Alex Bryan

Greetings and Welcome to the American Public Health Association Student Assembly!

Our number one goal at APHA-SA is to engage YOU as students. During the upcoming year, we will work tirelessly to provide more opportunities for you to get involved with our various committees and subcommittees, get involved in advocacy and policy, and help you feel more prepared for life after graduation. We completely understand that professional development is a priority among many students and we’re here to help!

This website serves as a valuable communication tool for APHA-SA’s programs, publications, and membership benefits. Our website also contains information about our Annual Meeting programming, including scientific sessions, our Annual Meeting Supplement for students, as well as information about our Student Meeting and Speed Mentoring events, held annually the week of the APHA Annual Meeting.

We are constantly seeking motivated students to serve on our many committees, each of which has a page on this site describing their projects and activities. Please check out our committee web pages and use the Contact Us section of the website to contact our committee chairs to get involved. And starting in the summer we will be recruiting our next slate of committee co-chairs, so if you’re interested in becoming involved in a leadership role in APHA-SA, please check back for more information in July.

Finally, if you haven’t done so already, please take a moment to explore the Student Assembly group on APHA Connect. In addition to providing a way to connect directly with other APHA members, we’re always posting new resources and opportunities to the Student Assembly group, so be sure to subscribe to the listserv and check back frequently!

In closing, we have an exciting year ahead of us, culminating with the 142nd American Public Health Association Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA in November 2014. We want to see everyone who is interested have the opportunity to get involved with APHA and Student Assembly. I’m looking forward to another amazing year with the Student Assembly and look forward to hearing from you!
