Personal Statement about APHA-SA:
I was introduced to APHA-SA through a faculty advisor at Emory. As a student I was excited to discover an organization whose membership is comprised entirely of students who share a very similar passion for public health. The more I learned about the APHA-SA and the diversity of its members, the more I wanted become involved and take a leadership role. I served as treasurer of APHA-SA from 2004-2005, Chair-elect from 2005-2006, Chair from 2006-2007, and currently serve as Past Chair.
There is an unprecedented need for a voice for students in public health, as there are many issues that affect our futures as students and as public health professionals. It is extremely important that students are well-represented within APHA and in the field of public health as a whole. I am excited to have the opportunity to represent the diverse group of student members who make up APHA-SA.
