Plans after school: Upon completion of my MPH in Global Health Practice, I aspire to enter a doctorate program in the field of Health Policy and/or Health Education, as well as continue my career within the federal government. I also wish to gain practical, hands on public health experience in an international setting.

Personal Statement about APHA-SA: During my first semester of my MPH program, I was eagerly looking for ways to become involved within public health and network with other students as I was a distance learning student at the time. I received an email advertising open positions within APHA Student Assembly, I thought to myself “Why not?” and filled out an application. Little did I know I this was going to be the beginning of my whirlwind journey through APHA Student Assembly, first as Action Committee Co-Chair, followed by Student Meeting Director, Chair-Elect, and now Chair! APHA Student Assembly gives students across the nation the opportunity to come together to share their thoughts and experiences within the public health field and I am proud to be part of a great organization which lets me practice servant leadership on a daily basis by serving my peers as a board member. There are a vast amount of opportunities for personal and professional growth within APHA through networking and mentoring and that is one of the most exciting aspects of the organization. I know that APHA Student Assembly has certainly helped me grow in these areas! Therefore, I encourage you to go out on a limb as I did and jump right into one of our many leadership positions. In an organization of over 5,000 public health students, there is definitely A LOT to do and something for everyone! It is my hope that the APHA Student Assembly inspires you to become a public health advocate in all that you do, as it has inspired me! Remember…Public Health is EVERYWHERE!
