would like to continue to develop my experience in advocacy,
policy, and education.
Personal Statement about APHA-SA: Through the UC Berkeley
School of Public Health and the Center for Weight and Health, I
learned of a scholarship opportunity with the California Public
Health Association-North to gain student membership and
attend the APHA conference held in San Francisco. As a member
of the Student Assembly, I was thrilled by the scope of
involvement opportunities through APHA-SA. A student
passionate about promoting volunteerism on campus and health
education in her community, I applied for the position of
National Public Health Week Sub-Committee Co-Chair because of
my desire to help students throughout the nation become
advocates for Public Health as a part of National Public Health
Week. I am continually astounded by the influence of student
efforts and their ability to build movements to educate their
peers and strengthen their communities. Students are in a
unique position to spread the message of public health to future
generations of professionals in all fields. I look forward to
seeing how students will lead, innovate, and inspire this
National Public Health Week!
