Depending on your interests, there are several committees and sub-committees that need your participation within APHA-SA. Feel free to contact the current committee chairs to volunteer.
Action Committee
Promotes public health advocacy by keeping APHA-SA members informed about major public health policy issues as they arise and facilitating transmission of APHA-SA opinions to appropriate decision-makers/legislators.
Advancement Committee
Encourages development of leadership skills, promote networking opportunities with fellow students and public health practitioners, and facilitates transition into professional roles. Facilitates student access to public health-related job, internship, award and scholarship opportunities.
- Communications Committee

- Oversees and facilitates administrative functions, acting as APHA-SA secretary. It also disseminates information via the newsletter, Web pages, and listservers. The Communications Committee maintains an archive of all official Caucus minutes and correspondence.

- Establishes and maintains a strong financial base, supporting administration of all fund raising activities within APHA-SA.

- Coordinates and implements all efforts to promote the recruitment and maintenance of a diverse APHA-SA student membership and leadership.

Acts as the treasurer and handles matters of monetary concern, including reimbursements, grants, etc.
Membership Committee
Maintains a current database of APHA-SA members; collaborates with and encourages campus liaisons and student associations in various activities to maintain member involvement with APHA-SA and to recruit new members; coordinates special mailings to new members.
- Mentoring (NMP) Committee
Is a national mentoring program pairing students with professionals currently in the field.

Organizes voting for new board members within APHA-SA.
Programming Committee
Coordinates APHA-SA's Annual Meeting scientific and career sessions, expo booth, and social events.

Abstracts Subcommittee
Facilitates the abstract submission and selection process for the annual APHA conference.
National Public Health Week Subcommittee
Promotes National Public Health Week, the first week of April, and organizes a National Public Health Week Student toolkit
Affiliate Liaison Sub-Committee
The Affiliate Liaison sub-committee seeks to improve coordination between APHA’s national Student Assembly and APHA’s local affiliate student groups through student Affiliate Liaisons by: (1) increasing Student Assembly awareness of affiliates’ student activities; (2) increasing student affiliate awareness of and involvement in national APHA programs (e.g. PHACT, NPHW, National Student Meeting etc.
Campus Liaison Program Subcommittee
The APHA-SA Campus Liaisons Subcommittee is comprised of over 80 students who are APHA-SA representatives on their local campuses. Campus liaisons disseminate information about APHA-SA to students, faculty, and administration at their schools and facilitate a sustained dialogue between individual schools and APHA-SA.
Newsletter Subcommittee
Edits and produces the quarterly APHA-SA newsletter.
Section Liaison Subcommittee
Establishes and maintains the sharing of information about student opportunities to learn and take part in section activities guide by APHA-SA leadership and fellow APHA student members.
Student Meeting Subcommittee
Organizes the National Student Meeting(NSM) held at the Annual APHA Conference
Website Subcommittee
Maintains and updates the website.
