Physical Activity Section

Welcome to the virtual home of the Physical Activity Section at APHA!

We are thrilled to announce that we have been officially approved to become the APHA Physical Activity Section!  Physical inactivity is an essential public health problem in the US, with approximately half of Americans not getting adequate physical activity.  Our section is designed to provide a home for public health practitioners and researchers to share cutting edge research, advocate for active living policies and discuss what works in physical activity promotions.  We hope you will join us in creating an Active America.

-Jay Maddock, Chair, 2012-13

Our goals are to:

·       Provide a credible and visible home within APHA for physical activity practitioners, researchers, advocates, and partners

·       Implement annual meeting activities to meet the needs of professional and student members

·       Enhance the development and dissemination of evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence

·       Facilitate the inclusion of physical activity in public health policy and advocacy.

The PA Section greatly appreciates ongoing support from the following sponsors:

·         Active Living Research

·         Human Kinetics
