Areas/Topics of Interest in MCH:

My research interests are in reproductive and sexual health including topics like contraceptives, HPV/cervical cancer, and LGBT health disparities.

Current Research/Area of Study:

I am a second-year masters degree student in the Department of Epidemiology and will graduate in May of 2011. In addition to my focus in Reproductive Epidemiology, I am also completing interdisciplinary concentrations in Maternal Child Health as well as Women, Gender, and Health.

Accomplishments:

Some of my experience includes public health work in the House and Senate as well as organizations like NARAL and the Center for Reproductive Rights. I have also worked as a political strategist with groups like the Center for American Progress. Most recently, I completed a year of service as a HealthCorps Member in AmeriCorps, during which I was based at New York's LGBT Callen-Lorde Community Health Center and volunteered as a DONA-trained birth doula.

Current Work:

I am working on a number of studies in cohorts like the Nurses’ Health Study and the Growing Up Today Study (GUTS). One analysis is exploring the association between oral contraceptives and morality. Another study is examining LGBT reproductive health disparities and the last is investigating cervical cancer prediction models.

Future Work:  I plan to pursue doctoral training.
