Section Activities/Benefits

The Injury Control and Emergency Health Services (ICEHS) Section of APHA includes a diverse group of professionals interested in unintentional injury control, violence prevention, emergency health services and emergency preparedness. Our activities are supported by a small budget from APHA that covers less than half the cost of our section activities with the remainder coming from private donations of members and organizational supporters. Activities for which support is sought include holding an annual conference with over 150 scientific sessions; recognizing and awarding professionals working in the field; providing for audio calls for monthly leadership meetings and quarterly calls of committees working on section organizational, administrative and membership issues; providing for committee audio calls to address issues crucial to the field including policy, programming, communication, child and adolescent issues, data issues including e-coding, disaster and EMS, sports and recreational injury, violence, injury disparities and others; networking social hours and other activities.

Many of us donate to charitable organizations each year and reap the associated tax benefits. APHA is classified by the IRS as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Gifts are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by the law. Please consider ICEHS when selecting among deserving organizations to donate to this year.
