Gerontological Health

New Award! The Erickson Foundation Award is for research on aspects of active, healthy aging, and particularly on creating health communities. It includes a $1,000 cash prize. Read about it in the April 2009 issue of The Nation's Health.

  • CDC’s MMWR: Life Expectancy at Age 65 Years, by Sex and Race -- United States, 2000-2006, released on May 8, 2009, found that from 2000-2009, life expectancy at age 65 years increased by 0.9 year for the overall U.S. population.

  • CDC’s Healthy Aging Program At-A-Glance 2009  addresses critical opportunities to improve older adults’ health and quality of life, as well as what CDC is doing to promote healthy aging.
