Webinar on June 26: New Opportunities to use Civil Rights as a basis for Public Accountability in Health Care Delivery,  Thursday, June 26,  1-2 pm EDT Speakers:  Brian Smedley, Research Director of The Opportunity Agenda, and former Staff Director of the IOM Report "Unequal Treatment" and  Bob Griss, Executive Director, Institute of Social Medicine and Community Health will focus the final webinar on opportunities to apply civil rights principles to health care regulations in order to reduce disparities in health status and health care delivery at the state, regional, and community levels. Moderated by John Steen,  Board of Directors, American Health Planning Association, and specialist in certificate of need and community health promotion activities. The e-mail subject line will read "APHA Voting Information Enclosed". Please look for this email, and do not delete this e-mail. All you have to do is click on the direct link and vote. Your e-mail notification will include: Your online election validation number; Your APHA membership ID number; Voting instructions; A direct link to your voting Web site. December 4: In the 2007 CHPPD Membership Survey, members described benefits of participation as: personal growth, helps with activities related to their jobs, and connecting with people. Mostmembers were interested in getting involved in issues related to community health, planning and public policy. The detailed survey results are being discussed among the leadership to identify ways to get members engaged and working towards improving community health.
