Robert’s Rules - Understanding the Basics

Befuddled by the rules and motions and amendments and voting and 'out of order' sorts of things that go on at Governing Council and other meetings you attend?  Here's your solution!  We'll spend one hour reviewing the basics of parliamentary procedure –also known as Robert's Rules of Order-- so that you have an improved understanding of how to constructively participate in meetings run this way.  The session is especially meant for CHPPD's Governing Councilors, and is also open to others in our section interested in increasing their understanding and skill level in the use of Robert's Rules.

History of Health Care and Civil Rights First of a three-part webinar series on civil rights and health care
 Lead Presenter: David Barton Smith
The Institute of Medicine study titled "Unequal Treatment" provides credible evidence of patterns of disparate treatment and service delivery based on race, color, and national origin. However, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI) prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color or national origin by programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance. Where people live and play may contribute to their risk for certain diseases but it should not determine their access to care or the level of care received. This is the inauguration call of the Program and Policy Dialogue Forums.

Policy 101-Conference Call:

Hosted by Harry Perlstadt, Ph.D., M.P.H. who explained how the APHA public policy process is open but complex. This session defined APHA public policy, presented the several stages and reviewed how a proposed policy becomes an official APHA policy. This has a lot of interest to those wishing to submit policy proposals and those on governing council who give final approval.
