Dear CHPPDers, community leaders, and fellow APHA'ers:
You're invited to CHPPD's Annual Social & Awards Ceremony on Sunday, November 3, 2013, between 6:30-8:30 p.m. It segues with CHPPD's Third Annual Day of Action, "HEY! Let's Eat and Dance for Good Health!" Only this time we're going to leverage the creative energy of the Day of Action to "Outreach & Enroll for Good Health!" Oct. 1 began open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act. With 2014 around the corner, Job #1 is to reach out to millions of uninsured Americans—particularly the hard to reach—and enroll the newly eligible through Health Insurance Exchange/Marketplaces places in their state or territory. It's an exciting time! That's why we invited John Auerbach, Distinguished Professor of Practice and Director of the Institute on Urban Health Research and Practice at Northeastern University , to give this year's keynote. John served as the Massachusetts Public Health Commissioner when the Massachusetts Health Connector was just getting started. He also gave the national call to action for health equity as president of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officers. John will be speaking to us on why it's important to "Outreach & Enroll for Good Health!" After all, health access is essential to achieving Health Equity.
We also invited Leticia Alejandrez, Communications Director of The California Endowment, to talk about outreach and enrollment, and the opportunity to build a community health movement in a state as diverse as California.
So let's celebrate open enrollment with the organizational leaders and visionaries who put community health planning and policy development on the map:
