Section Activities/Benefits
Our Current Focus Areas are to:
1. offer stimulating educational programs and
2. be the APHA’s leaders on:
(a) food safety
(b) the health benefits of animals (a concept that was neatly captured in the term “Zooeyia” at this year’s AVMA)
(c) advancing TNVR as a cat management program where possible
(d) climate change, both the effect animal agriculture may be having on the climate, as well as the effect a changing climate may have on animal agriculture.
Recommendations: The Vet PH SPIG encourages communities to discuss trap, neuter, vaccinate and return (TNVR) as a management practice to control community cats, and to adopt this practice where possible. The Vet PH SPIG will develop a simple checklist to assist discussion and decisions
