Special Primary Interest Groups
- Alternative & Complementary Health Practices - Works toward the scientific evaluation of methods to promote and restore health that are not available from conventional medicine. Disseminates knowledge of validated practices and their potential contributions to health care.
- Community Health Workers - Seeks to promote the community's voice within the health care system through development of the role of new professionals/Community Health Advisors and other community-based professionals; provides a forum to share resources and strategies.
- Ethics - Encourages public health officials to deliberately and systematically consider the ethical implications and cultural values behind their decisions.
- Health Informatics Information Technology – Improves the public’s health and promotes prevention and early intervention by advancing the use of innovative and effective information technology and informatics applications. - Health Law - Encourages recognition and analysis of law's influence on public health programs, access to services, and health outcomes.
- Laboratory - Promotes the involvement of laboratory scientists in governmental policies affecting laboratories, and of laboratorians in the planning, evaluation, and operation of national, state, and local health programs that are dependent upon laboratory data.
- Veterinary Public Health - Deals with those diseases or environmental health issues that affect both human and animal populations.
