Matthew A. Swan, a senior dental student at University of California , San Francisco (UCSF), received the Anthony Westwater Jong Memorial Community Dental Health Pre-Professional Award at the Oral Health Awards Ceremony on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009 , at the APHA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia . He has a profound interest in improving the oral health of Latino children. His project was a community-based dental public health study of Latino farm worker fathers and their knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding their children’s oral health.
